"Diego Navarro is not only Leasath's commanding officer, but also controls their arms industry."
Albert Genette[1]

The Leasath Air Force New Weapon Laboratory is a weapons development firm in Leasath, focused on developing cutting-edge technology for the Leasath Air Force.[1][2][3]

Due to Diego Gaspar Navarro's complete control over Leasath's military industrial complex,[1] he in turn exerted complete jurisdiction over the laboratory and its projects during his dictatorial reign over Leasath. As such, the laboratory designed several experimental weapons for use in the Aurelian War, which was conducted with the secret purpose of increasing arms sales.[1]

History

A document from the laboratory, discussing its future plans for the Fenrir and Gleipnir

The Leasath Air Force New Weapon Laboratory was founded prior to the Aurelian War, with the purpose of developing new weaponry for the Leasath Air Force.[1][2][3]

Prior to 2020, Diego Gaspar Navarro tasked the laboratory with developing the Gleipnir and Gandr airborne fortresses.[1][3][note 1]

Aurelian War

During the Aurelian War, the laboratory continued development on Navarro's ultimate weapon, the super-aircraft Fenrir. Specifically, it used battle data from the Gleipnir to improve the fighter's optical camouflage system, as well as miniaturizing the Gleipnir's Shock Wave Ballistic Missile (SWBM) into the smaller Long Range Shock Wave Missile (LSWM).[1][3] It also continued development on what it called the "Guided Electromagnetic Plasma Weapon," which would eventually take shape as Fenrir's High-Powered Microwave.[1][3] Under Navarro's direction, the New Weapon Laboratory also began working on plans to mass-produce airborne fortresses in the style of the Gleipnir.[1][2][3]

The laboratory's—and, therefore, Navarro's—ambitions ultimately never came to pass, however, as both the Gleipnir and Fenrir were ultimately destroyed.[4][5]

Footnotes

  1. While the Gandr has never been confirmed to be designed by the New Weapon Laboratory, its sister ship, the Gleipnir, has. Since they are almost completely identical, it is highly likely the Gandr was designed by the New Weapon Laboratory.
