The R-501 Rhincodon is a multipurpose transport aircraft developed by Neucom Incorporated.

Etymology

"Rhincodon" is the genus of shark, whose only member is Rhincodon typus, the whale shark.

Decsription

The R-501 Rhincodon was designed for the purpose of transporting equipment of any size, to any airfield or airport on the planet.

Its design is 20 meters longer than its competitor, the C-17B, and its maximum takeoff weight is more than twice as much. In addition, it has the rare distinction of being one of the few supersonic transport aircraft.[1] It has three levels, unlike the common two levels found in most Transport/Cargo aircraft.

Additionally, they can take on the role of a refuelling tanker to help keep Neucom's aerial fleet in the air for longer periods.[2]

Its specifications are as follows:[1]

  • Length: 75.75 m (248.5 ft)
  • Width: 45.2 m (148 ft)
  • Height: 6.85 m (22.5 ft)
  • Weight: 350,498 kg (772,716 lb)
  • Top speed: 1,836 km/h (Mach 1.5; 1,141 mph; 991 kn)

History

The R-501 made few appearances in the Intercorporate War. They would first appear in an illegal transport move over Expo City, wherein they were all shot down by Nemo. They would later make an appearance by dropping chemicals amidst a training exercise involving Nemo, Abyssal Dision and Keith Bryan, wherein the chemicals were destroyed before they could hit the ground. After this incident they reappear exclusively as Neucom aerial refueling tankers.
