Railgun
A railgun is a device that uses electromagnetic force to launch high velocity projectiles by using conductive rails. Two sliding or rolling contacts permit a large electric current to pass through the projectile. This current interacts with the strong magnetic fields generated by the rails, which accelerates the projectile.
Railguns have been repeatedly utilized as superweapons in Ace Combat. One railgun in particular, the Electromagnetic Launcher, is a special weapon usable by the player. It has been prominently featured as one of the CFA-44 Nosferatu's weapons, but is available on more aircraft in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

Trivia
- Some railguns are not completely reliant on electromagnetic acceleration. Stonehenge's railguns, for example, use a hybrid system of explosive propellant and magnetic power to fire their shells.[3]
