The Tornado F3 is a long-range, twin-engine swing-wing fighter produced by Panavia.

History

Tornado F3's were sporadically deployed by the Yuktobanian Air Force during the Circum-Pacific War. Some of which were assigned to patrol around Glubina POW camp and were subsequently shot down by the Wardog Squadron in the ensuing POW rescue operation. During Jilachi Desert Invasion, several Yuktobanian Tornado F3s were sent to intercept an Osean bomber formation approaching their HQ at Jilachi Desert.

The Leasath Air Force was also known to use the aircraft during the Aurelian War, which also included an ace pilot with the callsign Gacrux.

Trivia

• The Tornado F3's deployment in the Usean coup d'état is non-canon as the aircraft does not appear in Ace Combat 2's remake, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy.
• The Tornado F3 is the only aircraft in Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception that does not reappear in Ace Combat: Joint Assault, where it is replaced by the Tornado IDS.

Variable geometry wings are wings that pivot on an axis to sweep backwards or forwards and then return to their original position during flight. They are often used to change the shape of the plane, with the outwards position allowing for better low-speed handling and the swept position allowing higher speeds.
