The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is the maritime law enforcement branch of the United States of America's armed forces.

In January 2016, one of the USCG's units, Coast Guard 6595, was involved with the Battle of Washington, D.C. 6595 was initially assigned to treating the injured in the immediate vicinity of Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge, but after a Tu-160 Blackjack crashed into the bridge to induce its collapse, 6595 switched to rescuing the remaining civilians from the area before the bridge fully collapsed.[1]
